Well, this is the last blog entry of my year abroad. I know I missed the last bit in China, blog-wise, but suffice it to say that Kashgar was fantastic, what with the market and buying knives and all, even despite the 23 hour train ride to get there. (Actually, that was quite nice, Becky and I hung out with a bunch of Finnish hikers playin…

Turpan is now up there with Xiahe as the coolest places in China. Well, I use "coolest" figuratively since it is officially the hottest city in the country and the temperature float…
Dunhuang has some of the best sites on this trip so far, if nothing else, just because they are extremely unique. But first and formost, this is also the most expensive city we've hit yet, th…

Hi Babe, I just reread this Hoi An blog while sitting in our guesthouse in Hoi An. I loved reading it. You write so cleverly and clearly. Sid had her eyebrows 'threaded' yesterday and I watched in amazement. I can't imagine having your legs done! Ouch1 We also ate Cao lai in the market, on little stools with the locals. No Vietnamese boyfriends though.

An orange skirt is a far cry from split jeans. That happened to me when I got off my horse at O. Elem. and had to teach all day backed up to a blackboard. luvusmuch

Sea glass?! I have recently taken up the sport of sea glass hunting (probably because of my amazingly low income). You should bring some Asian sea glass home for me, it would look nice in my collection ; )
Hope all is well. I can't WAIT to see you,

Hi Natalie! Great pix and friends. My mother's cousin, the handsome one, was prisoner of war all of WWII, worked in mines on Okinawa and many other islands. I have a copy of his diary that he kept during that time. Maybe there would be a landmark you'd recognize.

Hi punkin - The pics are great. Keep up the good blogs, too. You're getting a tan? Perfect your chopsticking and learn some pearl diving skills (running low on pearls).
Say hey to Julie. Yer Dad

This picture reminds me when we were all in San Francisco and I was taking pictures of all the unusual produce and fish in Chinatown. do you remember how mad some of the people got, telling me to stop taking pictures? I hope they are more open here! I'm not sure if I could eat these fish with those faces!

Hi Natalie,
I finally have a moment to view your latest photos. What an incredible adventure you are having. I was looking at the turtles wondering how much snappy would probably enjoy that pond. You look great, by the way. We are all hangin in there but nothing too exciting. I'll let Bailey tell you about the Oklahoma kick, which actually was quite a story.
Well, keep adding photos and stories. We all love hearing about you.
Mom
You look lovely, my dear, as does the whale shark and other assorted marine life in the photos. It's a beautiful island. I'm so glad you and Julie are exploring together. Love, Mom
