A bit of a leisurely start to the day. Some guests left this morning so breakfast at 6. The chestnut is still alive, hasn't eaten or passed anything, but seems a little more settled. Heart rate is lower, but he won't eat or drink.
I then went out on a ride on Maddie - the standardbred that redid my groin in. She's still one of the most uncomfortable horses I've ridden for a while, however she went well. Mena - a German woofer, she came out on Con (another standardbred) he's known to kick and bite but he's super safe to ride. They went well together. Seems to be another hot day - rode in shorts...
Brad and Brady came back to the station today, apparently something went down this morning and they are packing up and heading off today. They were good to talk to, but getting organised to go. We exchanged contact details as they are keen to come to nz for the rodeo circuit next year. They also mentioned the possibility of me being a marriage celebrant in the future.
The chestnut has finally moved his bowels - which created lots of excitement. However he still won't eat or drink and is still clearly uncomfortable... he's not out of the woods yet!
We've had lots of guests arrive today - school holidays are on, although no one here with kids. People travel all over the place during the dry. Had a ride to do this afternoon with about 9 of us on it. Came back at sunset which was great. Currently about 20 of us sitting around a fire waiting for dinner.
Weaning has gone well, no sign of the foal returning and the mare seems settled. Chestnut might have had a couple of slurps of water and lots of stomach noises now. Still uncomfortable and not out of the woods yet. Watch this space. It's cooling down currently.
