Well, we picked up the new van, and Bernie picked up a new friend, but decided she was too large and dumped her. The new van was an exact replica of 'Jimmy', apart from the gearbox, obviously. However an hour down the road we decided to stop for a brew up only to find that the water pump wasn't pumping!! We decided to drive all the way back to Christchurch......which meant driving in the dark - then we found out that we only have one headlight, and that only illuminates about five feet in front of the van!!!! We eventually got to Christchurch about 10.30 at night, and stopped at our very first camp site.
Today, cloudy, drizzly and a bit cold - Quite a change after all our sunshine, good for acclimatising back to UK conditions though! We've been into town (on a bus, full of LOCAL people!!!!) and had a brilliant and cheap Thai lunch, and a look around Christchurch Botanical Gardens.
Tomorrow, sadly we've got to get packed up ready for an early start on Friday and our flight. Hopefully we'll have time and reasonable weather to go to the Banks Peninsula as well.
Oh well, online check-in now. See everyone soon. Hope my Tractor is still in one piece!
