Mary, Rod and John's New Zealand adventures
Hello again! We're having big problems putting photos on here so I'll just write a bit now.
We're at Kaikoura now, hoping to go on the Whale Watching Tour tomorrow, weather permitting. On our way up here we stopped at a seal colony just on the side of the road. There were dozens of fur seals basking on the rocks, and colony of red billed gulls (like our Black headed gulls) as well - Rod went too close and got seriously poo-ed upon!!
Bri and Rob, Bookworm was a word game on the in-flight monitors!
More soon, and pictures if you're very lucky! xx

Paul ... better not get too close to the Whales then! New Moon today (15th), optimum star-gazing for the next few days, if you've got clear skies. Have you got your Palm? Take care, love Paul & Ros xx
Bobsie The seal colony sounds great, even if Rod did come away needing his clothes washing!!....Haha....that'll teach you to get too close!.....glad you are all ok. I'm keeping Mum updated everyday with your news. Snow slowly thawing here at last! Take care xx
Robert Hahaha, I hope you have a picture of dad getting too close. Have you seen any UFOs yet? I saw a very small (and very fast) bright blue bird today shooting up the canal. I don't know what it was, perhaps John might know. It was smaller than a blackbird but a touch bigger than a robin. Could it have been a bluebird? It was an 'electric blue' rather than a matt blue colour. Anyway, snow has thawed here now, 5 degrees today but seems to be getting darker every morning! Hope to hear from you again soon.
Paul Rob, that would be a kingfisher, a typical view too, just a blue flash. Challenge for John- spot a New Zealand Kingfisher! I've been 'googling' the Southern Alps - looks absolutely amazing! Get some pics! Hope the whale watching went well, love Paul x
Anne-Marie Funny! Bird poo is meant to be funny remember!! ( you've been framed)...maybe you should do the lottery!!! Have fun!! x

Anne-Marie Spot the mistake!
Briony Hee hee about dad! How's the weather been so far? The snow has finally disappeared from our garden- feels really warm now at 5 above freezing! I've got my lovely new iPhone now so i'm back on my old number again. Loving the phone, it's so clever! Bri x
Robert Text me Brio, I tried to send you a photo earlier but it would have gone to your 'interim' number!
Briony By the way, I think my friend Michelle and her boyfriend have been in Kaikora at the same time as you guys! If you see a camper van with a blonde girl with a Bristol accent, say hello! X
Robert Thanks for identifying the bird Paul, it was hard to get a good look at him! There are loads of cormorants about on the canal at the moment but they're very distrustful of people on bikes with cameras! I wonder when the next update will be?! I got a text from dad saying that they had caught and cooked mussels at Marlborough sound (I was envious!) I hope they had some nice NZ white wine to cook them in!
