Walked out of the airport in Lisbon to nice weather! Sunny and +13. Hosteling International only had availability in their Oeiras hostel. Oeiras is to Portugal like Saanichton is to Victoria. The walking distance is too far, so you can drive to it or in our case take a train. It's pretty deserted in here, for the first night Evan and I were the only guests and it seems to have picked up a bit since but not by a lot. The nice thing about this hostel is Evan and I have our own room with two twin beds. We had the option of getting a room with our own bathroom but opted out because of the price difference, so we share a bathroom again.
Lisbon (or Lisboa as the locals call it) is a beautiful old city, but if there's anything to do there we didn't find it. The people are friendly, and while not many speak English well they still try hard to help. On our way to the train station from our hostel for the first time Ev had asked a couple for directions and they gave us some the best they could and we went on our way. They must of noticed us heading in the wrong direction though because the next thing you know they pulled up behind us in their car and told us to get in, they were giving us a ride. I thought that was the cutest thing! We have now successfully made our way to the train station and back a number of times. We did a bus tour that was quite lengthy and took us around the whole city, a nice way to see it all. We decided with our last few days we needed to get out of Lisbon so took the advice of a Facebook friend and headed on out to Lagos!
