From Lisbon to Lagos you have the option of taking a bus or train. We opted for the bus only because it left sooner then the train did which meant less wait time at the station for us. The bus ride is 4 and a 1/2 hours but the scenery (if seeing it for the first time) is picturesque. It was lush green farmland spread over rolling hills. Our hostel here is busier than the one in Lisbon, but it seems to be an older age group traveling at this time of year.
This city has the potential to be amazing, we were told even if we had come in the months of April-May it would just be filled with people from all over the world. It's a destination place for surfers and divers. A lot more people speak English here than in Lisbon, but I would say that's only because this seems to be the place for people from English speaking countries to move too (ie England and Australia)
Evan and I did a 3 and a 1/2 hour hike all along the coastline which involved a few different sets of ridiculously steep staircases. It was well worth it though and probably the only real exercise we'll do this whole trip so it was good for us! Today we took an hour bus trip into Sagres, which had some beautiful views but otherwise wasn't a very lively place to be at this time of year so we had lunch and then took the bus back to Lagos not long after. Tonight is a quite night for us, consisting of Evan kicking my ass in cards, as tomorrow we leave for Paris!
