Motor bike, motor bike, motor bike, beep beep . . .
We got ourselves a motor bike for the day. So after brekkie it was ready steady go.
Laura was on the back and as I've never driven one before except attempted in Spain a couple years back with a 15 stone (maybe more) bloke on the back, it was rather amusing trying to pull out the garden with Laura on the back. The woman at the hotel were amused, it was like the tandum bikes all over again. I kicked Laura off and went for a ride on the road alone into the city and back, which I was fine, it's the weight on the back that was throwing me.
So Laura jumped on and after a couple mins we were fine, pros I would say.
It's a question of where didn't we go in Dalat, we drove for about 5hours completely lost, going up random dirt track roads, discovering army firing training camps, where we got told after a while of driving round there to go back. Ee it was like the conditions in Sappa but on a bike instead of walking, a few times I had to kick Laura off the back so I was able to get the bike over the really difficult and ridiculous mud mounds, slides and puddles. The bike would conk out every now and then on the hills. But we were having so much fun.
We rode through an amazing graveyard and we got off and walked to the top of the hill to discovery a quarry.
Went to see the most uninspiring waterfall ever, basically a river running down a few rocks on a slight descend, however there were poor horses painted as zebras with people getting dressed up as cowboys and Indians, sitting on the horses and getting there photo taken.
We ended up at another mountain base north of Dalat where we walked for a couple hours up a really steep hill, hence climbing up a mountain, before turning back to Dalat city centre and going to the amazing veggie fast food place I had grabbed food from the night before for our dinner. Eee the aubergine and squash was just amazing. I miss my veggies so much.
As we had basically been lost on the outskirts of Dalat all morning and were unable to find a way out. Our late afternoon ride we managed to find the 'motorway' out, and had a good blast along there on smooth road conditions, such a change to the terrible road and mud slide conditions of the morning, we felt like we were driving a bmw along rather than a tin can on wheels.
I ended up buying a mask from the market, so on the bike back to Dalat my air was pollution free! We stopped for a cuppa for a while chatting to some guys, then used our bike to be lazy, because we can, to do errands to the market and bakery etc for our bus food tomorrow. After tea we were both shattered, we went to sleep. Mine a terrible sleep and I'm back to being ill, my bunged up nose, sore throat and bad head, it's my own fault for getting frozen to the bone on the bike all day. But I had about 3days of feeling ultra healthy so I can't complain. xx
