I can do the splits . . .
Breakfast, I got out my tea bag supply(the majority of my bag), anna and joe got out their milk and we all sat with an english breakfast with our million pancake supply and one very finely chopped pear between us and some honey.
We can't complain, it wasn't a baguette. But when we did ask for more honey, our first portion supplied was gorgeous all thick and pure, the second, watered down, we got too greedy, another pear, oh no finished!
The trek contined, same conditions as the day before, but actually worse duee to overnight rain, not long after we had ventured down the first hill we were walking along a flat on their rice fields, a massive watery puddle to the right, a meter and 3/4 drop to our left to a nother muddy swamp style puddle.
So we were walking along the ledge happily chatting away to anna at the front, laura behind, the others ahead.
I went to slip into the puddle on my right so to prevent this, took the better option of stepping more left with my left foot, where my left foot slide down the drop into the muddy puddle, and my right foot got caught on the ledge I was walking on and I had some how manged to swing myself so I was facing the mud wall, clingng on doing the splits, I I burst into hysterical laughter as I was completly stuck, anna couldt turn as she would fall and laura is far from strong to help me up. So I was laughing in hope I wouldn't fall back, all the little selling woman ran past laura and grabbed me hoyking me up. Eee well it gave laura confidence of how stable the trail was watching me in yet again a graceful fall. I couldn't stop laughing.
So we contined to dinner but on the way stopped at a waterfall where anna got bitten by something making her unwell for a few hours and in this time we decided we wanted to return back to hanoi with the rest of the group as it was getting ridiculous and the trekking guide kept leaving us and going ahead and just the two of us felt we really enjoyed it but a bit pointless for two more days to probably injure ourselves and we werent able to enjoy any views as all you concentrate on is not falling. Teri was next to fall, next to a big sheer drop, I had to squeeze past her as she was perched on the end and get to more stable ground to help her, laura temporarily lost a shoe recused by joe followed later by slipping over, anna never fell flat. The last part of the route was clinging onto the bamboo swinging from bamboo to bamboo trying not to fall.
Don't get me wrong this was good fun. We had dinner of micro noodle soup, then got the bus back to sapa, for shower and food and laura and me are currently in a cafe waiting for our 8.45pm train to hanoi.
We both loved it, but think its ridiculous people aren't warned about how dangerous it is. Obviosuly when its dry its not dangerous at all, but we had a good laugh with lovley people.xx
