Finally got to have lunch at Le Trakteur - it was a bit of a challenge. I knew it was closed Monday so did not go. We tried on Tuesday but for some unknown reason it was closed again so we decided that we would go on Thursday. Yesterday we went early at 12 to be sure of a seat and were refused a table as it was "full" with only about 3 tables occupied and all the outdoor tables empty. When I said that we were happy to sit outside under the grape vines and trees this was also refused "it may rain" (it didn't). So we made a booking for Friday today.
Le Trakteur has very high recommendation from lots of travellers so I really wanted to go there. It is a very rustic building set in the middle of grape vines and olive trees - more like a country barn with some artworks inside (and outside) and also their own olive oils, etc. The chef changes the menu each day with only coice of 2 entree, 2 main and 2 desert so you have whatever is fresh and seasonal.
We arrived early and of course there were many tables occupied outside under the vines today - same weather as yesterday - and she recognised us instantly and allowed us to have a table - thank goodness as it is our last day. Of course the restaurant was not full yesterday and I am sure it was less than half full???? May be she just did not like the look of us or was it because we had not phoned ahead?
It was the best food so far on my journey and the place is charming - photos to follow.
