Photo is just outside our front door looking up our lane. We were able to drive the car in to unload and it was a challenge to get it back out again!
Well the week is flying by and the weather is cooling down with autumn really showing it's face.
We have done quite a bit of walking, got lost more times than I can remember (mostly in the car) and are still to have a memorable meal. Hopefully today will be the day as we are going to Le Trakteur for lunch and tyring not to get my hopes up too high.
My French is improving by the day and just managing to get by albeit with some funny moments. We went to the market in the square yesterday and bought some nice lamb for dinner which we had provencale style and some chicken which I will cook tomorrow night with a selection of the lovely mushrooms which I have been waiting patiently to be able to enjoy. Also my favourites, quinces, are in season now and we had them last night for desert with some creme fraiche - yummy.
Tried very hard yesterday to find the lavender farm and drove way out into the country in the rain but never got there - ended up in a roadside cafe with a mediocre hot chocolate. We did find the local winery just outside the village walls and bought some wonderful red made from ancient vines which we enjoyed with our dinner last night at only euro 7 per bottle!
We have been to the Pont du Gard as well as a very long walk outside the Uzes village walls down to the source of the spring where the water came from to run all the way down to Nimes through the Pont du Gard. Lots of ancient stone structures and a lovely walk with the usual confusing French signage which meant we probably walked twice as far as we needed to.
