You see the picture of the mountains that I put on these blogs all the time? Well, Saturday I got to hike them. Pretty cool, huh?
It was a big adventure. Heidi and I left at 10am on Saturday morning with a couple other girls from the program. We were all decked out in our sneakers and gym clothes. We even brought a backpack with water and some snacks just in case. Oh yeah, and how could I forget...I brought a roll of toilet paper. (you never know when you'll need it)
It took us about 2 hours to walk to the base of the mountain. We weren't really sure if we were at the right place, but when we came across a park and campsite, we didnt even care if it was wrong. We explored some caves, drank from the streams of water, played near the waterfalls, and even sat down and had a little picnic. The other girls were tired so they head back, but Heidi and I wanted to go to the top. We followed a trail that we believe would lead us to the top, and it took us an hour to make it to the end. I don't think we made it to the top, but the trail just sort of ended at one point...so I like to believe we hiked the whole thing. I'll just stick with that story.
Our total trip was 5 hours long. By the end of it our legs were like Jello. The rest of the day I layed outside in the sun and physically could not move. It was glorious. And it makes it that much better that the weather here in Italy this past week has been between 75-90 degrees with no clouds and a breeze. Can you say PERFECT? It's hard to believe back in the states the Northeast is getting snow. Sucks for them!
I only have 13 days left here in Italy. I can't get over how fast these 3 months flew by. There's no doubt every time I think about leaving I get sad, but there are reasons for me to be excited to go back home. I've been very blessed with having the opportunity to be over here, but it's not permanent. All good things have to come to an end sometime, but I will take the memories and experiences of Italy with me forever. I look forward to what lies ahead for the future, and I can't wait to be back with my family and friends to make even more memories. I think I'm startin to get my head around it.
Speaking of future, things are still up in the air for this summer. I had the opportunity to speak with Safeway on Friday, and it went really well. I am also trying to figure out the logistics behind Pepsi Americas and SaraLee International...and will most likely make a decision in the next couple weeks. It's exciting!!!!!!
For now, I gotta focus and finish up the last full weeks of classes. It's gonna be busy...especially since finals are going to be TOUGH. But I'm Molly Nolan...I can do it. haha. A little ego boost to start off the week.
Ciao!
