Taronga Zoo
We really needed another few weeks in this massive great country, hardly scratching the surface. So whilst the outback and rainforests would be the best place to see some of the locals, Sydney's Taronga Zoo would allow us to take a closer look all in one day.
This was definitely an Alice Day, and probably her favourite of the entire trip as we left Uncles and Aunties to their trips to Bondi and fishing on the Hawkesbury River. We met up with Alice's old school friend Anna and her Mummy and sister as they showed us the best bits of Taronga Zoo.
The zoo is fabulous, with massive wide open spaces, trails and the feel of a safari park more than zoo. The views over the Harbour make it truly spectacular too, we reckon the animals have better views than millionaires row in Spit or Watsons Bay!
As hoped we up close and personal with Koalas, Red Roos, Wallabies, Possums and even Tasmanian Devils, not sure if Matt or Alice loved it more. here were other non Aussie animals too of course, Alice's favourite , the Snow Leopard and some pretty cool chimps too.
A very long and cold beer followed that night back at base as Dave and Lou shared tales of fishing bounty including an impressive flathead filleted and cleaned ready for the barbie...
