Christmas Day
For some of us - Alice excluded of course - Christmas Day itself was threatening to pass us by. But Barnett tradition withheld and Santa was duly left his customary mince pie, carrot for the reindeer and with an Aussie twist, had his warming brandy replaced with a cooling stubble of Tooheys Beer!
With help from a letter sent back in Blighty and some Tom Tom help, Santa found Alice in Sydney, delivering a stocking of fun and games plus a much wished for Wii computer game....Daddy is going to love the Golf on it!
With Dave and Lou in deepest sunniest Jervis Bay, aboard HMAS Pollard for some fishing the remaining five of us had a very different Christmas Day, the boys bombed down to the outdoor pool at the beach and we had a few lovely hours on the sand before tackling....cue Jaws music.....Moby...
True to Aussie tradition we plumped for a barbie for the main meal, JC working his charm with the local fishmonger to purchase a few prawns, lobster and the biggest blooming fish we'd ever seen on a grill! Moby was an Australian snapper, all 3 kg of him! Needless to say he took some cooking and some eating!
Not the latest night we'd ever had on Christmas night but an early flight to Melbourne on Boxing Day loomed....
