Up early and packed. I hailed a taxi and off we went at 7.30 in the morning to JFK airport saying goodbye to New York. It was a cold morning with the temperatures dropping. No snow thankfully. It is st Patricks day which the Americans celebrate with lots of green and weird things on the menus such as braised cabbage.

We found terminal 4 and joined the check in queues. These were long due to full body scans. Jordan and Martin had the full scans and had to take shoes off I did not have to do these just walk through. Must have an honest face!,

We had some breakfast, chicken pieces etc. at the airport. Such large portions that Martin and I shared. Jordan as a typical teenager ate a full one.

The delta plane was quite small. The trip was fairly smooth but we arrived in rain but thankfully not the thunderstorm they said would be there. No checks as internal flight. Got to orlando airport at just after 2pm. A very modern and clean place. A mono rail took us to the baggage collection area.

We picked up our hire car. Very strange instead of allocating a car they pointed to a line of cars and said pick one. We went for a black impala...very nice. It is a left hand drive of course and automatic. No instructions. Asked where the handbrake was and the guy pointed to a lever and said we would not need it as no hills . How strange to drive on the other side. Went very slowly out of the airport. Due to martins great directions we made it to the hotel in one piece having travelled two toll roads and roads with more lanes than the m25!!! We also had no arguments... A miracle. Got to the Rosen hotel at pointe orlando. A large complex which has more apartments than hotel. The rain was heavier but it was like a sauna as so warm.

The time was 3.30

After resting and showering we went out. Opposite the hotel is an entertainments and shopping complex. Still raining . We eventually decided to eat a B&B kings which had a live blues band playing. Jordan had a ribs and a chicken combo, I had pork chops with cinnamon apple and mash. Martin had shrimps and grits. The grits is a type of corn.

The rain had stopped and we went back to hotel for a well earned sleep.
