30.04.11 Kate and Richard's Wedding, and Reception at Bridgewaters Seatown, Downtown Manhatten New York
Nicki and Chris arrived late last night and came over to our hotel after breakfast. The 'youngsters went off to Liberty Island and Ellis Island whilst Damian and I stayed behind in Seaport to prepare for the wedding. We polished shoes, ironed and had everything ready for the return of the 4 so that getting dressed for the wedding was as smooth as could be expected with the 6 of us in a relatively small space.
We all made it in time for pre wedding balcony photos, and then tottered over the cobblestones to our awaiting coach, or should I say coach like limosine. The church bit was a no singing American style Catholic one, all good until the priest took the stage..ooops I mean sermon.
We were transported between church and reception around New York by the Special coach, then enjoyed cocktails nibbles and chatter before the main reception and 3 course meal. Wine, food and cocktails flowed all evening. The band played the entire time, speeches were dotted in amongst the celebrations and the entire wedding party were introduced and danced into the room in pairs to the clapping of hands and the music of the band. Very different from our English affair. Also, there was a 'love table ' in the corner of the room where the bride and groom took their first meal together. A splendid party evening was had by all, with spectacular views of Brooklyn Bridge lit up at night as a background.
The photos will tell the story.
