As I continue on this journey, I often find myself in complete awe. There are so many times I catch myself (mostly on the bus) just looking off into this world of the unknown. Outside of my room or Uni I have no internet and my phone only consists of a very contacts, so I have a lot of time to myself. I love this! I always have said I wished I could have experienced the olden times with no modern technology, or perhaps the life of the Amish? Anyways, there are so many things (traditions, phrases, words, and ways of life) that are so much different than from home in the states. Below is a continuous list of the differences in language. Aside from the language barrier, there are so many other differences. The academic system is probably the most obvious - I will explain that in a later blog. The way family life is here is so awesome! I am so intrigued with the way in which people live over here. The food. Their night life. It has taken me quite a while to adjust to being here, but now I'm starting to love it.
I turned in my first assignment on Friday - yikes! This weekend I was quite bored though. Last night I found myself making origami figures and such, and decorating my room. I spend a lot of time in the other girls' rooms either watching TV or just chatting. I made white trash again this weekend and it was so awesome! They all loved it! It was gone in no time. I've also gained quite a bit of weight already, so I'm doing this workout thing via the computer. We'll see how long this lasts. Today I walked to town with Sophie and her friend. She showed me all the great shops and stores, and we walked through the park. There is a mini zoo-ish thing in the park. There were different kinds of birds and rabbits and chipmunk things. It was such a nice day out! It was well needed!
I have been researching a lot for when the family comes over - 19 days! And, thank goodness for Sandy (my director) or they would be all over England before they got to see me. So, I have to re-book some bus tickets and figure out a plan B. But, I have it all under control now! Speaking of Sandy, I must write (in another blog) about my BCA program and the classes. The English way of life is quite interesting.
As for now, I must get ready for bed. My next few blogs will be way more interesting, promise!
