So, I have decided that writing a blog, a journal, keeping up with coursework, and enjoying my time here is about to become very overwhelming and stressful - so, for my sake (apologies for being selfish) but, I am going to use blogs as my journal as well. Again, apologies for any added information that you may not want to read about. But, for those of you loved ones who enjoy these, they are about to become even more entertaining/dry.
Back to the topic - the city of Liverpool.
I woke up Saturday morning at about 4am (not by choice). Everyone decided to go out on Friday night and forget that there are others who live here! I heard every taxi, every groups conversation, every person who went up and down the stairs.. you get the picture. So, I showered and got ready, and us MC students headed for our long walk to Park Campus. We stopped half way at Regency to pick up the other BCA students, and went onward. We finally reached Park at about 7am and boarded the bus. It was about a three hour bus ride from Cheltenham to Liverpool. Once we got there, the lady in charge gave us maps and showed us where to meet her for the Beatles museum.
Louise, Kelsey, Kelsie and myself hung out all day and toured the city. First, we went to this huge shopping area! Literally, every woman's dream. Well, we didn't buy very much because it was sort of expensive and we didn't expect this, so we didn't bring very much money. We headed towards this specific area that was all about the Beatles. Down the alley was their first Cavern and a ton of other pubs that they had played in. There was statues and all sorts of information on the walls. It was really neat! Then, we couldn't decide where we wanted to eat lunch. Manchester United and Liverpool were playing football (soccer) in all the pubs, so it was very noisy and crazy. We walked around probably for about 20 minutes or so trying to figure out where to eat. All of a sudden this guy comes out of a door and yanks up two black garage doors and wa-la! It was a shabby looking little whole-in-the-wall quick and eat sort of thing. It was really cheap, and we had never been first customers of a restaurant before - so we went in! We ordered cheeseburgers and chips. It was massive and SO GOOD! We were stuffed afterwards. Then, we had to head back towards the museum because our group was going in at 2:30pm. We arrived there, on time, and ended up waiting about 40 minutes for everyone to come. For some reason, nobody is ever on time. The Beatles Story was absolutely incredible - you can check photos on Facebook. It was interactive yet informative at the same time. I'm not a huge Beatles fan, so I wasn't quite looking forward to it at all, but my mind was changed once I went through it. After that, Louise and I decided we were going to go find the Liverpool Cathedral. It was within sight and we had been told it was about a 20 minute walk. We had a little over an hour for this adventure. So, we set out and needless to say, we should have thought it through. The first road we turned down was a dead end - great. Then, we got on this road that led us through what they called Chinatown. It literally was filled with Chinese people and Chinese stuff. We ended up at the Cathedral and realized we only had about five minutes there. Oh, side note: we were told that if we weren't on the bus by 4:45pm we would be left and have to find our own way back home. So, we hurried up and took as many pictures as we possibly could. We started our trek back to the bus a different way than what we had came up. We thought it would be quicker....if we knew the right way. We basically were running and at one point, Louise literally was jogging to keep up with me. So then, Louise turns me and says, "I feel like we're about to be mugged." And right then, two mischievous looking men walk past us and just stare. Thanks for that. But, we made it to the bus just in time. And, like earlier the bus didn't leave until about 5:10pm.
To sum up the day, there was a lot of walking, taking pictures, and experiencing a lot of really cool stuff!
I have many more blog topics in mind, but I will write those separately. As for now, I have to leave in about 15 minutes for our BCA class tonight. I will write again soon.
I hope all is well at home! And.......
