Road trip - day 20 - Thursday
Armistice day in France
A short blog today; we haven't done anything very much all day!
Decided to visit Rochegud market & have breakfast out for the first time but we did have doubts that it would be fully open on the public holiday especially given there was nothing on the roads.
On getting there we saw 2 plant stalls & came across the village Rememberance ceremony. Even from a distance it seemed intrusive to be there & so we turned back & out of the village to go back to the Gite. BUT, we came across the wine shop & came out with 6 bottles of first pressing wine @ 15 euros for the case (as recommended by the local gentleman buying cases in bulk!) and a couple of bottles of quality wine.
Temperature today around mid 20c with white fluffy cloud that's actually welcome, no breeze to speak of. Back at the Gite we read, dozed, sunbathed .... Until 7ish when we headed back to Rochegud to Bar Au Vins for tea & music. The menu wasn't veggie friendly so we stopped for a drink & to listen to the band practising. Looked like the whole village was gearing up to a great night!!
Left to find pizza restaurant with veranda & decking under the lime trees on the way to Carpentras (Aubinan). Excellent meal!! Nice thin pizza bases (aubergine & artichoke toppings) & rum baba for G & chocolate fondant for me.
