Road trip - day 17 - Monday
Back home it's bank holiday Monday
The wind has gone & the weather forecast is good - sunny blue sky's
Breakfast outside, a bit chilly as it's out of the sun.
Heading today towards Orange but just calling at Bollene to see if the market looks like its worth a visit. Decided that it was possibly a bit late to do both so carried on to Orange specifically to see the roman theatre.
The Theatre Ancien was SPECTACULAR!!
Very impressive structure & an excellent guided tour via the audio link & visual videos. Very steep tiered seating, but great for just sitting on to take in the awesome stage & arena
Lunch out opposite the Theatre, needed to have a seat in the shade under a tree with the occasional blast of warm wind. G very gallantly saved an umbrella blowing into the road! Salmon salad with grapefruit, omelette for G & chips to share.
Got bread for tea (bread, cheese, salad) then postcards from shops in the same square. In the postcard shop the owner was dealing with another customer; he indicated it was the head of the French Foreign Legion based in Orange!
We left & got a few supplies from a small carrefour near Mondragon. Back at the Gite we sunbathed & found that the wifi works with the bedroom door to outside open. Surfed & skyped Kaz & Tyler, also rang mum & dad. Turned out the wifi connection is connected to the weather ??
After tea we took a short walk up the hill at the back of the property through the forest. Tough terrain for me!
Tomorrow up early for the market in St Paul 3 Chateau
