Road trip - day 16 - Sunday
Very late wake up! 10.30am & still in bed!!!! Reading & listening to the wind rushing through the garden & rattling the shutters.
Still no wifi, can see the connection every so often but the password isn't working, need to ask Blanche about it.
On getting up the sky was blue & rest not too cold despite the wind. We sat outside for breakfast; tried one of the new teas, had a shake (need to experiment with the mix!), had small croissant & grapefruit.
A bit later we went out in the car to explore Bollene. It's a very shut town on a Sunday! We went through the commercial zone, even the tourist info office was shut. Found the town, both old & not so old bits. Took pictures of a poppy field, very pretty. We found an old disused church on the hill with a great view point over the valley, both the pretty wooded hillsides & the nuclear plant, wind farm (ironically of only 3 windmills) & the autoroute.
We stopped at a Boulangerie for bread & an apple puff pastry which we ate outside the wind catching the icing sugar & flakes of pastry & whipping them down the street dancing on the gusts. Found out Bollene market day is Monday
We headed back towards the Gite, carried on past to St Pierre. Definite possibilities here to explore & eat. Market days are Tuesday??
Decided that walking through the forest one evening would be nice ....
Sunbathed, read, snoozed in the afternoon sun. Not tooooo chilly at all!
Soya steaks, salad & fresh bread for tea with cakes (naughty but nice, tarte citron!)
After tea decided to find the music bar on the road from Bollene to Orange, G reckons it's a wifi possibility!!
Later update ..... bar was closed - it's only open lunchtimes & thurs, fri & sat nights!
