Road trip - day 23 - Sunday
Good nights sleep in Montlucon, had breakfast in the hotel.
Decided given the weather is cold & going to be wet that we would go across country rather than toll roads. Approx 4 hour trip.
Stopped at the Intermarche for stuff for smelly shoes & basic provisions for tea & breakfast. Also petrol. Supermarket was packed!!
10c on setting off & came through done really wet weather on the motorway. With still 2 hours & 70 miles to go we came off on to the A roads. Stopped for toilets & drink at Le Blanc, pretty town next to a river.
Carried on on N roads for the rest of the journey. Stopped just outside Le Blanc to help shepherd a sheep off the road & back to his field. Saw 2 UK cars on the way!!! The roads were pretty winding through fields of various crops, and very windy!!!
Found our way to Richelieu, beautiful place with a chateau & planned town on the shape of a square with 4 entrance portes. Never been anywhere as aesthetically lovely as here!!! Has a drink at a bar & rang Wendy. Onwards to the Gite!!
Found Gite fine, all ok (apart from smelly kitchen cupboards, looks like we are the first people in this year). Bit chilly & windy & rainy on & off..... but wifi works!!
Went to find the recommended pizza place nearby, had another great meal! Took piccies of the sunset on the way home. Market day in Richelieu tomorrow, must be up & out early ;)
