got one little girl who likes a certain Juan Carlos (what a name!) so she hits him and runs away in my class. She was mean to me so I said "ooooh pienso que tu le gusta!" (ooooh I think you like him!) and she went all red. Hahahaha. I need to get my kicks from somewhere.
As a quick indicator of my week, here are its vital statistics:
10 paper aeroplanes confiscated by me in 1 day
2 dogs in the classroom
1 missing (and found) child. This was actually really scary, there´s been a case of murder and torture of a child on the same STREET as CENIT, so you can imagine my panic..... and that of her brother who knew he was going to get a beating if he didn´t find her. But we did find her, so that was fine. And he played seeing her very, very cool as a big brother should.
2 pencils stolen
5 pounds gained from endless carb consumption (I am as they say, a gordita!)
1 time the teacher bothered to turn up
1 possible case of nits
8 pogs confiscated
cocktails consumed: 3
Tried to teach a 7 year old to count too, really gives you no faith in the education system here! For some reason, he couldnt register the number 4. Maybe it has bad connotations for him? Hmmmm.
On the plus side literacy lessons great. My pupil is 18 and has a 3 month old daughter. She´s really keen to learn and apparently wants to read "everything" and got through 2 lessons in an hour. So that is fun. I´m about to find her something cool to read. I feel like she´s learning and seems to enjoy what I give her, so that´s really ace.
Did an unwise thing today and checked the FACT website. Big mistake! And then I went to listen to Grace. I need people with the same level of appreciation as I!
Off to Tumbaco this weekend for some chilling out and hiking with Sylvia and her husband. Very happy that I won´t be going to the bus terminal at stupìdoclock for the first time in weeks! Yay lie-in.
