Back to the campervan and away we go. Next destination was Mackay. We didn't get up to much here and just used it as a stopover really. So I'll take this opportunity to talk about our good old campervan. We have rented it for a month from a very popular backpacker company called Wicked Campers. It runs like a gem (so far!!) and its very cosy to sleep in, much more comfortable than a tent!! It has a little kitchen in the back and plenty of storage space to store all our clothes (most of which are Lynz's!!). During the day we can set it up so theres a table in there and you can sit down and have lunch (not exactly the Marriott but it does for us!!) and on a evening you lay down the matress and just like magic it turns into a bed (again not exactly the Marriott but still a decent nights sleep). As for driving it, well its not power steering, but you get what you pay for I suppose. At first I was a little nervous, but after a hour or so on the highway I was fine and it felt like I'd been driving it all my life. So far it has been brilliant for us and it's the perfect way to see a country of this size as your not restricted and you can go where you want and when you want, unlike the various backpacker buses and the train. So far we have clocked over a 1000km and were not even half way yet - good job the petrol is cheap over here. (50p per litre if your asking!)
