A short drive in the good old campervan brought us to the capital of north Queensland, Townsville. Lee has found driving the campervan very easy and a relaxing way to see Australia. The van is very comfortable to sleep in and we have our own mini kitchen in the back and some chairs to sit in with a nice cold beer in the sun. In Townsville we went to the Great Barrier Reef HQ Aquarium, which was pretty good but theres nothing like the real thing! Before we left for our next destination we stopped at the Billabong Sanctuary, which is a wildlife world that lets you get up close and personal to the animals...saying that mind the crocs were caged which is all good!! All Lynz has wanted is a picture of her holding one of these cute Koala bears and here she got her wish. We also got our pictures taken holding snakes, crocodiles (baby ones!) and lizards etc. The guides here were brilliant and made the day very enjoyable for us, we watched them feeding crocodiles and we even got to see a turtle race, which was very funny!! The best thing here had to be hand feeding the Kangaroos who just roamed around the park as if they were in the wild. We would recommend the Billabong Sanctuary as a must if anyone was passing through Townsville.
