We had our Auschwitz driver drop us at the Main Market Square around 2 PM to do some last minute shopping. We had lunch at a restaurant on Rynek Glowny. Alot of the medieval basements have been transformed into these cute little cafes with stone walls. I'll have to check back with the name of the restaurant. I can't remember it right now. Lunch was tasty. We headed back up to the market to do some shopping. On Saturday afternoons, especially on particularly nice ones, this place turns into a fascinating freakshow. We saw a lot of mimes, people on stilts, people painted in silver and gold and wearing military gear, people posing as statues, guys playing Michael Bolton on the accordian, some guy screaming in Polish via a megaphone. I did some souvenir shopping and we did some people watching and then started walking toward the city wall that leads to the drawbridge area of town. I didn't things could get any stranger...but then to my left I spotted a Native American pipe flute band going to town. They were dressed in full gear, had a smoke machine and amps, and a boot for donations. Was not expecting to see that. We ambled about the city for a while getting in some last minute sight-seeing, and then took a taxi back to the hotel to pack. I was not looking forward to travel day on Sunday. I was just starting to get on Poland time, and it was going to be a long day.
We had dinner at the restaurant, with more honey vodka and packed our bags. Janusz was going to pick us up at 11:15 AM. I checked Scott in for his flights successfully, but I kept getting errors when trying to check myself in. Certainly this can all be straightened out at the airport....
