Today was a low key day. After work we walked to this mall that is under Scott's office. I guess this is as good a time as any to list the things I DID NOT expect to see in Krakow, Poland.
- KFC
- Pizza Hut
- Subway
- McDonalds (I don't know why this would surprise me)
- Pizza Dominion - which I think was a knock-off of Dominos
- Posters of Chuck Norris on bank windows - to show you how safe they are (WTF?)
We had dinner at this hilarious "American style" restuarant. Think TGI Fridays...sort of. It was filled with all things Americans apparently like. Lots of pictures of cars and license places, confederate flags (again...WTF?), sports memorabilia, fried mozzarella sticks as big as your wrist, and they were playing some sort of country music that I have never heard. Now I hate country music with a passion, but I can still usually tell who is singing what. This music was totally unrecognizable. We both were amused by this place. We stopped at a grocery store to pick up some essentials. There were a lot of unidentifiable meats in the glass counters. They had quite the selection of sparking water...or water with gas, as I heard it referred to in a couple of restaurants. And that brings me to the exchange rate. Things are ass cheap in Poland. We walked out of the grocery store with 2 huge bottles of gas water, 2 smaller bottles of regular water, hair conditioner, 2 meal bars, 2 snickers, and another chocolate thing...all for $7 US. It was crazy. We walked back to the hotel and I managed to fall asleep around 11:00 PM I think.
