I didn't even get up to get breakfast with Scott this morning because I was so exhausted. I slept late and piddled around getting the new room organized. It was snowing. Scott emailed me and said that the car would be picking me up at 4:00 to head to the Wieliczka Salt Mines. We would take a tour and then eat dinner in the restaurant that's about 300 to 400 feet under ground. The salt mines are about 30 minutes outside of Krakow. All of the Americans visiting the Polish office went on the tour plus a Polish woman from the Krakow office. The salt mines were interesting. We had an English speaking guide who gave us lots of information. The tour got a little monotonous after awhile but I enjoyed seeing the mine. It was huge. And there were a lot of really pretty chapels built inside. Our dinner was in a private "cave" of sorts that was pretty fancy considering. I had sparkling wine. We were joined by Ruben, another Polish woman and a man from Scotland. Courses consisted of salad, mushroom soup, chicken (I think) with rice and veggies, and then apple cake. It's pretty commonplace in Poland for pitchers of apple and orange juice to be at the table all the time. The food was good. Then we headed home.
Again, I didn't fall asleep until like 4 AM. :o(
