This bookstore you visited sounds like a dream. I have never been to place described quite like that. I too love books. What a treat! Jealous! Oh, and did I mention, that I'm jealous! Glad you are having so much fun, seeing so many glorious things and can't wait to see you home. The accounts are a mess. I'm sure you'd love to hear all about that.

They are diving platforms. I can't find that it was ever used for competition, but in fact kids can jump/dive into the natural tide pool. There are many many photos of them on shutterstock, picasa, flickr, etc. Not the most interesting historical fact, but still thought it was interesting. St. Michel looks amazing too

I LOVE your writing! The small towns and cities with fortress walls are what I love about Europe in general. I think Cincinnati might want to consider a fortress wall!
