I would totally go back to Prague, but I would definitely stay on the other side of the river. Things seem a lot tamer over there. Our room looked directly over the main square which is lovely to look at, but when you're primarily there on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday it turns into a swarm of drunken debauchery. We spotted the main variety of the Euro-douche. Way too orange, way too muscular, way too hairless, way too much hair-gel and clothing that was way too tight in order to emphasis their mass. They tended to travel in groups and yell/chant things. And they got shi.t-faced drunk and really, really loud. Very obnoxious. I was slightly disappointed in Prague until I got out and saw other parts of it. Then it started to make sense why it's frequently listed as one of the top most beautiful cities in the world.
I initially thought I had managed to bypass the majority of jet-lag. I took these homeopathic jet-lag remedy pills, but they seemed to just delay it. After our early morning hike to the castle on Sunday I crashed hard. It was that feeling of having weights tied to all of your limbs plus your eye-lids. I couldn't stay awake. Scott never has the problem with jet-lag that I have. To summarize Prague, I would say that it's very beautiful and very old. They eat a lot of pork and the part of Prague we stayed in had a street-fair feel to it. Lots of food vendors on the street, even more outdoor cafe's. If you know you're not someone who can tolerate loud drunk people drawing attention to themselves I would stay away on the weekend. It's a very cheap European city to visit. Speaking English wasn't a problem at all. I purchased some cool hand-carved marionettes as souvenirs and had some delicious gelato. Our hotel was awesome and provided a tasty breakfast.
Prague Castle and the surrounding area is gorgeous. It's apparently where Hitler wanted to "retire" at. Probably a large part of why it remained intact. St. Vitus Cathedral is very dark and gothic and dates back further than Notre Dame in Paris. The view from the castle grounds in awesome. You are really high up and can see all of Prague and beyond. You feel like you've stepped back in time until you see that damn Starbucks. And we were there so early we had the place pretty much to ourselves.
Driving around that city is madness but Scott got us out of there alive. It's been really hot here lately and I don't think we'll see any repreive until we get to Amsterdam. I'm writing this from Austria but I'll write about that in a different entry.
