Hello All,
Well first day of teaching today (8.30am - 3pm!!) and it was great I loved it so much - the kids were great, so full of enthusiasm and energy!
Their English was not as good was we thought it was going to be so we had to adapt some of our activities - but they all really enjoyed it - got some super photos.
Made telephones from paper cups strings / beach collages / dressing up games/ animal games / body parts games etc... then lots of sport such as 3 legged race and egg and spoon race!!
Had a game of football on lunch break with some of the boys and they were sooooo fast - they tired me out so much and kept pushing me to the ground on the rare occasions I got the ball!! There were no rules as such (similar to staff v student PBL matches!!) it was sooo hot running around despite it being cloudy but the kids just kept on going!! We sang songs, make musical instruments and shouted really loudly!!
Going to be lots of Thai kids with Stokie accents by the end of the project!!!!!!
The School were very hospitable - despite them not having much they gave us lunch of rice and fruit and water which we wolfed down as we had used up so much energy!!!
The kids are from a variety of backgrounds - some were great - others a real handful but we laughed so much with them! the ages of the ones we worked with today were 10 /11. There was a nursery school there also and the little ones were running up to us - so adorable!
Tomorrow is more activites in the morning then a big treasure hunt in the afternoon with the clues in English (with a bit of help from us not doubt!!)
Just had evening meal - bed soon as worn out!
Weather very hot but no sun - come on sun - I know you are out in UK!!
Have 18 bites on my legs - really horrible looking things (sure you wanted to know that!!) Most of the volunteers have been bitten - must be something about English blood!!
Anyway - hope all is well - thanks for the messages!!!
Love and hugs
