Today we left our Hiroshima home and moved to Beppu. Before leaving Hiroshima we made a quick trip to the local baseball stadium so that Shannon could buy a shirt for the local baseball team, the Hiroshima Toyo Carps. Tonight we went to our first onsen ever! It was awesome! At around 9pm we briskly made our way down to Hyotan Onsen chatting excited about the upcoming treat. Once we arrived we stored our shoes in the lockers provided and then bought a ticket from the vending machine for a private onsen. Today we went by train and ferry to an island off the coast of Hiroshima called Miyajima. We admired the famous tourist attraction of the torii gates, huge red gates placed out in the water, and then headed up to the top of Mt. Misen via the cable car. This morning we had our normal breakfast of pastries and coffee before strolling across to the Hiroshima Peace Park. First stop was the museum where we spent a few hours walking around and reading all about the nuclear bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. Hello! Today was not a very sightseeing filled day... In fact I didn't even really take any pictures! We left our Kyoto home and travelled by train for 3 hours until arriving in Hiroshima. First point of business after dropping off our bags at the hostel was finding some noms as we were both starving. A lot of things were closed due to the new year break but we luckily stumbled across a ramen shop. I think it was the best ramen we have had in Japan yet! So yummy...
