Today I woke up feeling a little more energy as I had managed to grab a few more hours of sleep. I did some varnishing and then cleaned the 2 bungalows and restocked all their food supplies. I met Henry and his Father - both Venezuelans who were staying in the bungalows; they had brought some local fish at the morning fish market and had invited me to join them tonight for the BBQ. I was done and dusted by 12:30pm and sat around waiting for lunch which was at 2pm. Lunch was incredible again- Resteraunt quality shrimp and chicken in a garlicky and creamy sause and accompanied by a thick green haba mash with caramelized onion and a lettuce and palm heart salad. Once again I couldn't control myself and ate too much but who knows when I will get the chance to eat so well again so best make the most of it. After lunch I walked into town a good 30 minute walk that in the Island heat is more draining then one would think. I stopped at the Airline office and tried to book a flight to Galápagos Islands - as there is a special on at the moment. After not having much luck I headed back to Peters and got ready for tonight's BBQ. I had seen a mouse a few days earlier so Peter and I put some poison down and this afternoon Tiare found the mouse very dazed in the cupboards - we were able to catch and put it out of its misery. For the BBQ I boiled some potatoes and made a salad - leaving the grilling on the BBQ upto the two Venezuelans. Tiare prepared the local fish by adding a little salt and pepper, lemon grass and lemon and then wrapping in Alfoil; we then placed the fish on the outdoor BBQ grill. The fish took about 45 minutes and came out incredible - the skin and meat very soft and basically we peeled the Alfoil and skin off and inside was a very soft and tender white flesh that fell apart in your mouth. We had too many fish and Henry the Venezuelan insisted we cook all of it - so lunch tomorrow is organized aswell. We sat around talking and I heard some very interesting things about Henry Seniors time in the war, Nazi Germany and about Peters time in the Swiss military. Another great night full of good food, good times and good company - it certainly will be a shame having to leave this place.
