Today I only had to work until 12pm as Tracy the lovely Canadian lady I had met yesterday had offered to take me to a famous beach on the other side of the island. I had unfortunately misplaced my camera and spent the whole morning running about trying to find it with no luck. At 9am I started work and first up was varnishing the top of the fence that surrounded Peters balcony. Next I cleaned the three bungalows which basically involved some cleaning, restocking, emptying bins and making beds. By 12pm I had just finished and had luckily found my camera which had slid down behind my desk-side Cabernet. I met Tracy and jumped in the taxi which was driven by a really nice young Chilean girl by the name of Camella, we had a really interesting chat on the way out to the beach and at one point had a sudden downpour of rain. The beach was absolutely amazing with bright yellow sand, coconut trees and a bunch of Moai lined up just above the beach. After some quick photos of the Moai it was straight to the beach to enjoy the beautiful Pacific water. The water was a little cold but refreshing and there were a few waves rolling in which made things a bit more interesting. After the swim we laid on the beach getting a bit of a suntan before Camilla came back to collect us at 2:30pm. Camilla had brought her little boy Santi to meet us and he was a very cute kid and he could even understand and speak a little English. We got dropped off in town as Tracey had a spa treatment booked so I decided to go to the airline office to try and change my flight; unfortunately the told me it was impossible to change my ticket - however I am not giving up as I know every airline allows flight changes but usually with a penalty fee. I walked back to the house which ended up taking nearly an hour and luckily I had as Peters wife and her friend were there waiting for me to finish making lunch so we could all eat together. For lunch was a truly delicious Thai Green Curry with a special side of salad just for me; avocado, vegetable stuffed tomato and a lettuce salad. After lunch I did all the cleaning up and showed my appreciation for another wonderful meal. By 6pm I had to walk back into town and onto camping to meet Loreta and discuss about sightseeing tomorrow. I didn't want to ask Peter for a day off as I had already taken half the day off today so I told Loretta maybe it was better if she did a tour as she only had the one day left. I then talked to Benjamin the owner of camping again and he had sorted out everything for me to come work for him after my time at Hareswiss. Tonight was the KariKari traditional dance show and his son Oswaldo is in the show so I decided to go down and watch it - it was expensive but something unique I couldn't miss. Myself and about 6 other tourists walked down with Oswaldo at 8pm and sat waiting for the show to start. The show started at 9pm and was easily the most energetic, unique and value for money performance I have ever seen. The women were beautiful and danced almost like belly dances and the men danced the same but with much more pace - the dances were literally dripping with sweat after the first dance. The music came from guitars and various other instruments including Oswaldo thumping the huge drums. At one point in the show the dancers collected audience members and had them get up on stage and learn the dances - it was hilarious with a skinny old Japanese man trying to keep up with his female partner. The show lasted an hour and a half and my eyes were glued the whole time. At the end we were given the chance to take photos and then Oswaldo and I walked back to the camping. I joined him and his family for a quick cup of tea and snack before Oswaldo gave me a lift back to Peters on his scooter. By the time I arrived back it was 11:30pm so I made some dinner, surfed the net and then got to bed by 1:30am.
