Waking up this morning was difficult after such a late night but the girls and I had committed to going to church this morning. By 8:30am the girls had only just got up so we were a little late leaving but ended up making it just as it started. The service was incredibly hard to follow for me and I couldn't keep my eyes open but there was lots of wonderful singing that perked me up. An hour and a half later and it was over and we headed back to the camping. Myself and Loreta the Chilean girl decided to go for a walk out to the nearby site of Vinapu. After a couple of kms of walking a guy pulled over and asked if we needed a lift, we jumped in and he was a really nice guy that explained the area and told us what to visit. The site was interesting but visually it was just ruins of old Moai that had only been half made. We sat down and ate our packed lunches whilst enjoying the south side of the island and its windy and angry sea. Loreta is an incredibly smart and interesting girl with impeccable english so our conversations were very interesting and I learned more about Chile in a few hours with her then I had from a whole guide book. The walk back was really nice and we decided to take it really easy checking out fruit trees and other random things on the way. We arrived back just after 4pm and at 4:30pm Peter from Hareswiss (where I will be volunteering over next two weeks) came and picked me up. Peter is a really interesting guy and I can tell I will learn a lot from him and it turns out I am his first volunteer so it will be a bit of a learning curve for both of us. First up there home is amazing, very spacious and very tranquil with beautiful gardens, I have my own room and own shower and free access to the kitchen - bonus. I sat around talking with Peter and his wife and they are both very friendly and full of information about Easter Island. For dinner I cooked myself an omelette with everything I could find in the fridge - which was a lot. I spent the rest of the evening trying to get on the Internet - unfortunately the Internet is very slow here and in the evening everyone gets on making it near impossible to connect.
