So where did I leave you? Oh yeah! We were drunk on the way back from Halong Bay. At the end of the bus journey we arrived back in Hanoi so I thought it deserved a new blog.
We had 12 hours left before we headed to the airport and so we grabbed a shower and some food, and carried on with the drinking!!
We wanted to thank Seb, our tour guide, and you could probably guess that it would be drink related. We collected up some money, waited for happy hour (so drinks were 2 for 1), and bought Seb 12 rum and mixers. We aren't p****!! We didn't make him down them there and then. We made him down 6 and gave him an hour to finish the rest and to be fair to him he managed it, and still came out afterwards.
We carried on the drinking rules and it really started to become a killer. Also, before we came away I came up with an idea for a night out. Vietnam is the cheapest place to be a millionaire in the world (apparently). 1 million Dong is roughly £32 so I said to the others we should have a 'millionaire night'. We all had a million to spend and had to blow it but you couldn't just tell people the rules. Dan managed by just buying rounds of shots for us and spent about 1.2 million in total. I spent roughly the same but my tactics were different. I walked up to a table of 6, asked who wanted a drink and when asked, 'Why?', I told them, "I'm a millionaire", bought them all Tequilas and walked off.
After this, I went on to propose to one of the girls and when she said yes, we started getting free drinks. People were congratulating us with shots. When I tried to tell one barman that it was just a joke, he responded with, "Shut up and enjoy it!". Who was I to complain with that?
Eventually I ended up in bed about 4,30am - 2 hours before we had to get up to go to the airport!!! We headed to the airport and this is where it got sad. Dan was leaving us to fly home, whilst the rest of us were flying to Luang Prabang in Laos.
Eventually Dan left and we waited for our food to arrive. In my drunken state I thought that at 9am vanilla ice cream was a great idea. To those mums (including mine) who have said, "you can't have ice cream for breakfast", your right!!! It wasn't good at all!!! My sugary Fanta went down a treat though :)
Anyway,we are now on our flight to Laos, which will be country number 38 on the checklist!!!
