Hey
Just had a braw two weeks with my Mum and Dad driving down the east coast. Was so nice to see them. Has been a while. Got a nice suprise too as didn't expect to meet them till late in the evening in Cairns but we didn't realise our paths crossed in Sydney and we were on the same flight up to Cairns.
Has been great have spent the past two weeks living the life of luxury , staying in nice hotels and Mum and Dad treating me. Makes a change from hostels, has been so so nice. Also just spending time with tyhem was great. Has been a while. Â
The first few days we stayed in Cairns. The hotel was lush right in the heart of Cairns. The first day Dad and I took a flight over the Great Barrier Reef on a six seater plane. We got offered this at the last minute due to people cancelling. To see it from the air was amazing. All the different colours, how the islands look and you could see the shapes of turtles and stingrays. A different perspective from when you snorkel and dive. We saw the island/reef where Steve Irwin died.
Whilst in Cairns we also went to the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulatioon. This is the only point in the worlkd where two national herige sights meet each other. The rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. Pretty cool!
We also tried our hand at spotting aussie wildlife. Went a boat tour where a huge crocodile swam beside the boat and there were snakes in the trees round about us. Got some cool photos of them. The whole trip we all scanned the trees and fields around us to the point you got dizzy loooking for koalas and kangaroos. But don't think they liked us Scottish. We only saw two kangaroo's in the distance.
One oif the highlights was the daty went spent island hopping at the Whitsundays. You can't describe it. The scenery unbelievable. Was like pardise. Crytal clear bright blue/green sea and white soft sandy beaches. At daydream island, the island was a resort. Very peaceful and beautiful. We walked around teh whole of the island in less than an hour. They had a small aqaurium reef where we saw a tiny baby shark cling onto its mother's wing.Great to watch.  We also went to Hamilton Island. More comercialised. A huge island where a lot of people live on it. People get around on golf buggy's. We chilled out there and topped up our tans. Was great as felt like I was on holiday too. Away from the big cities. The east cooast is the part I have most looked forward too and has def not diappointed me.
We stopped at a few other beaches along the way. Also spent some time in Byron Bay. I loved it there. Again the beach was fab. But the two was small and had a really good atmosphere. We went to this great restaurant. The food and decor outstandingt. Mum and I had tapas. So tasty! Mum tried muscles for the first time.
Finished off trip in Sydney at Kelly and Campbell's, then was a dash to the airport for Mum and Dad. a very jam packed two weeks. Mum and Dad both really enjoyed it. Think they were suprised at how much they loved the country.
Oh well, now its back to backpacking for me. Was fab meeting up with them. Living the life of luxury and being treated left, right and centre. Couldn't have wanted for anymore.
Miss you all XXXXXXXXXXXXX
