Today we went into the pineforest and went mushrooming. We were looking for 'Saffron Milk Cups' which are orange fleshy mushrooms about 30cm wide (they were accidentally introduced to Australia when they bought in the pine trees). We found heaps and filled up our small cardboard box!
Then we went Blackberry hunting in the thorn trees and got enough to use in a pie for tonights desert.
Next we picked apples from several fruit trees on the side of the road. We found trees with both red apples and greens apples (green ones are the juiciest).
In the afternoon we made a thick Mushroom sauce to go with our rissoles at dinner time (because the mushrooms are orange the color is retained when cooked-so the sauce is orange to).
Mel made an apple and blackberry pie in the camp oven and it came out perfect and was delicious with cream!
Highlight today: Finding all the wild, edible produce!
