Getting to Phuket was a pretty long trip going from the east coast of Thailand to the west, taxi....boat....coach...another coach....one long ass wait sitting in the middle of nowhere and a bus journey...some how we ended up four hours off schedule and finally got to phuket about 7pm and after a full days travel we were pretty glad to arrive at a rather fancy hotel...we was welcomed to a 500 baht deposit for the room card. This is when we realized that a chunk of our money had been stolen!...not happy to say the least....the cleaners from our Koh samui stay must have been fine dinning for a week!...we soon excepted the fact that things like that happen and as long as we was safe we shouldn't worry too much..a lesson was learnt for sure! So phuket may not have started well but we had an nice clean hotel with a/c and a plasma tv...so we had a good chill to recharge! We got a pizza and checked out the night scene. We was located a street away from a mini Vegas strip....lights...bars...dancing women...and ping pong shows!....it was an eye opener for sure! We wasn't quite ready for it so decided to call it a night! The following day was spent exploring Phuket...we found a huge shopping complex containing the usual shops but more importantly a cinema showing the latest English releases! That night it just so happened to be super cheap so we couldn't resist and watched a film...at the start of the film you had to stand for the Thai national anthem which was sort of special...pictures of the king in his youth flashing on the screen! I can also tell you that the seats were amazing and you could actually move your legs!!....so it sure wasn't an odeon! The following day was spent chilling locally making use of the sea view pool which was on the roof! After travelling around Thailand for the past few weeks it was appreciated that we could just do not alot...prepare for the next destination....catch up on news.....read a book....whatever we wanted really knowing we wasn't missing much in terms of Phuket! We found a kebab shop which was pretty awesome as this sort of thing isn't a common site in thailand...it was nice to have some home comforts available...no marmite though!:0( Before we left we wanted to check out the bustling bangla road which we had briefly witnessed on our first night....we got a couple of beers sat at a central bar and took it all in....people watching to the extreme!....we seen all sorts of strange things that night!..... I think we was both ready to leave Phuket to get back to beach life and the traveling spectacles....both excited for phi phi we set our alarm ready for our 7am pickup a bus n boat combo trip!......'ring ring'.....'ring ring'.....'er hello'.....'mr gent there's a man waiting to take you to phi phi island!!'.....'oh s***!'....'come on pack everything we need to go!!'.....'Stupid alarm!'.....we spent the next five minutes running round trying to stuff everything in our bags......looking like a couple of zombies we made it to the reception where we was confronted by a slightly pissed Thai driver!....we checked out and got in the bus....lucky we was the first people to get on as we didn't want the confrontation!!....we spent the next 15 mins picking up the rest of the bus!!.....a group of 4 American holiday makers who looked worried and outraged by the fact the bus was very late jumped aboard......'was it you guys who slept in?'......'nope wasn't us!'.....'so it was the driver that was late?'......'err hmm yeah!!'....at this point we was half asleep...feeling sick because of the rush....getting interrogated by Americans....and thinking we were gonna miss the only ferry that day out to phi phi!!....we finally arrived at the ferry port after a mad dash across Phuket....to our luck the ferry was still boarding so we got our tickets and hopped aboard!....it was a 2h 30m trip...it happened to be a boat journey from hell...within 10 mins of setting off we hit the choppy sea...up and down....side to side for the rest of the trip....it wasn't long before jen couldn't hold it in!....mr bean was playing through the duration and some how saved matt from joining the sick club!....I don't think either of us appreciated solid land so much once we stepped onto the jetty.....we had arrived in phi phi!
