I have heard so many good stories about Fisherman's Wharf and as people had told me that San Francisco was beautiful I was hoping to find that word here, today.
I got the F Tram to the wharf and I must say I felt that started off the good day. It was very 1960s with plush leather seats. When I arrived I seen lots of wood, shops and sunshine. Then suddenly heard sea lions. I thought I am definitely at pier 39. I ran to find them and I all that came out of my mouth was a big wowwww. They were cute and noisy, pushing each other into the water and marking their territories.
After taking pictures of them and acting like a kid giggling at them I went into the shopping part of the pier are and hit the souvenir shops. Not sure what to buy I found lefty's, a left handed shop...well I thought that is one less thing to buy my mother as she is always going on at me about left handed scissors or a can opener. I seen the Alcatraz gift shop and dreamt about being on Alcatraz island then I found a little wooden cable car, I thought perfect!
I walked to the end of the pier and admired the views of the ships docking in and wondering of what adventures they have been on or going on. I discovered this funny looking meal it was a big football bread with soup inside it, that is going on my list to eat.
After pier 39 I walked down the boardwalk to see the rest of fisherman's wharf. There were street artists painting, Michael Jackson lookalikes and people just standing still painted in gold. I walked past the famous sign with steel pans playing in front, I felt very culturized and I had a big smile on my face until I smelt the fish from the nearby restaurants. I don't like fish.
I met 2 Chinese girls from Hong Kong, they couldn't speak much English but they were excited to meet someone British. It was great to speak to people of a different nationality.
I definitely found the beauty in San Francisco here, the bay over looking the ocean with happy smiling people in the sunshine. At night it gets even better with the lights and the fireworks and people are even happier as they are on holiday with a beer in their hand. I think it will be my favourite place in San Francisco, not because the fog doesn't seem to sit here but just as it is very touristy and everyone has to love a touristy place!
