I nearly didn't go to Santa Monica as it is so far from Hollywood but I jumped on a bus and off I went. When I arrived it was incredible and definitely one of the highlights of Los Angeles for me. The beach was beautiful, it was hot and the pier was very cute and vintage like.
I walked down the pier and that is when I realised that Santa Monica is the end of the Historical Route 66, so I bought a postcard and got a photo of me standing next to sign to give evidence that I had kind of been on the Route 66. There was candy floss, ice-cream, bucket and spades around, fair music playing and market owners calling out offers.
I was so happy. Afterwards I went to Venice Beach, I actually just walked down the boardwalk to get there. This is when I spotted the original Muscle Beach which is shown in films and on TV. I seen people working out with their trainers which is when I thought where is mine. It was crazy.
I wanted to live there as it reminded me of an upper class Skegness but lots of souvenir shops and amusements. The buses are not the best as I had to wait for 45 minutes on the way back but it is very much worth the trip out to there, I would say its a hidden gem in LA.
