So when I arrived into Sacramento I wasn't sure what to do, I grabbed a leaflet from the greyhound station and seen it advertising Old Sacramento. I thought this could be good so I got onto a bus and went. I was so surprised when I arrived, the district was stuck in the gold rush era. There were people dressed up, horse and carts roaming around, men welding and women sewing.
There was a steam boat and train which I would of liked to go on but due to time I couldn't. But just sitting eating lunch whilst watching the train go past was simply magical. I was walking down the sandy wooden floor walks just imagining a cowboy shootout would happen any minute then jump on the runaway train and the men coming back from working in the gold mines and the women have just cooked a big home meal.
This day was perfect as I did no expect any of this. When you walk out of this district it is like entering another world, a commercialised world. There are big buildings and a shopping centre with subway on the corner. I just wanted to run back to Old Sacramento.
The good thing about downtown Sacramento was the Capital Building, I went for a tour. I must say it was pretty impressive and I had to visit as it is California's Capital.
Apart from that I would just stick to the old district as it gives you a history lesson in a glance.
