I thought we were never going to be able to take off today. After a very tough week at work, working long hours, I finally caught up enough to call it a day at 5pm today. However, I had not been able to get everything ready for the trip. I had to finish packing some miscellaneous items and food. I made pretty good time and by 7 I was done. Earlier this year we bought a bike rack and this is the first trip we are going to use it. I bought brackets for the girl bikes (2), however my husband was not able to mount all the bikes. The frames were too slanted and we needed more brackets - so off to the store they went to find some.
We took off sometime after 8, but were very hungry, so we had to make a stop for dinner just down the street from our house. My son asked if this is where we are stopping for the night - haha. By the time we got on the road it was passed 9PM.
Why leave at all? We are ready and to wait until morning means a late start then. They would not want to get up early, then get ready, eat breakfast causing us to start from zero miles late morning. At 9PM the sun just wen down so it does not feel so late. I can drive until I am tired and put some miles behind us, besides no one goes to bed this early anyway.
The reward was the rise of a round orange moon the size of a medium pizza pie leading the way. We tried to get a picture, but it did not come out too good.
After 203 miles , we are safely tucked in away for the night at a Wal-Mart.
Let the adventure begin!
