Well here we are... was a bit of a hike on day 3 to get here with a damaged outside wall to the camper and me insisting it be changed before we headed off.. I had no intention of dealing with a blow out on the high way with MIL in the rear!
Stopped at Kumarina Road House at just the wrong time.. bus load of people and 3 road trains and Mark decides to spoil the kids to some hot chips.. 45min later and they were worth the wait!... We had some enjoyable company whilst we waited...
On the wall of the road house was a hand painted map of WA showing pretty much where we had been where we were standing right through to where we were going... The bus load of people were a group of Aborigines from a remote community slap bang betwen Derby and Fitzroy Crossing, so they went on to explain to the kids where Derby was, where Karijini was where they lived and so on... the only intersting thing we missed was the reason for their trip to Wiluna but they were certainly packed well with the roof of the mini bus fully loaded with every type of swag you can imagine.
What was supposed to be a quick stop in Newman for some fresh bread and salads turned into a few hours.. Mark bumping into a bloke he used to work with on the wharf (as you do) and Nan setting out on a mission to buy a jumper (nearly lost her three times in a shopping centre no bigger than Bertram!)
Mission accomplished nice park for the kids to have a quick play whilst we made some lunch then off to Karajini.. arrived here around 4:30pm bit later than we had hoped but always the way, it's reasonably busy in here but not too bad.. camp sites are really well spaced out and we have a 2 caravan site so heaps of room and only one camp site away from the toilet. (The toilet of course has lead to many a gigle I will fill those in that will be interested when we get home)
Nights up here are so cold being away from the coast, but nothing an extra layer of blankets (not clothes) won't fix so all good there and by 8 in the morning the jumpers are off and we are in shorts and shirts for our big day exploring the gorges.
Mark, Noel and the boys have ventured off to the Visitors Centre (apparently they have showers) to suss out the situation for Nan whilst I got the job of supervising Nan and tidying up.. grabbed enough time to do this as well.. thinking we will move into the camper when we get home much easier to keep tidy!!!
Signing off for now will be back later hopefully with photo's :)
Note: Pulled into camp after going off for a drive and oooooo people next door have Mandurah plates grrrrrrrrr.. oh the woman is waving.. oh dear she's coming over... OHHHHHHHHHH grrrr she knows Hil.. all this way and what do u know a tennis lady!!!!!!
