NY Subway, Grand Central Station, United Nations, Shoes, the Plaza Food Hall, Central Park and MAMMA
Manhattan, New York
Tuesday morning, the day after Woodbury and my feet were still hurting! We were up early and off to our favourite brekky spot at Soho. This time we tried the subway and made it all in one piece without getting lost. We ate freshly cooked vanilla bean doughnuts and lovely coffee at Dean and Delucas. Back on the subway we headed for Grand Central Station - amazing. Caught the shuttle to the East Side and walked about 4 blocks to the UN which we thought would be good for the kids education.
I then headed over to a NY shoe shop that specialises in shoes for people with foot problems and came away with 5 pairs of shoes. Had the shop and the attendant all to myself, it was great.
It was then off to the Plaza food hall for the 4 of us for lunch where we dined on Pizza, pasta and hamburgers - what a great place to spend a few hours eating and taking in the atmosphere. Here we left Steve to head off to his Ferrari and Benz showrooms and Chelle, Oli and I went for a horse and carriage ride in Central Park - it was a lovely thing to do after lunch.
Down to Times Square to queue for tickets to Mamma Mia, which we were very lucky to get them home for a rest.
After a quick dinner, Chelle and I were off to see Mamma Mia on broadway while Steve indulged Oliver and visited the Nintendo store and Toys R Us (again). Mamma Mia was fantastic - no, better than fantastic. We had a ball and sang along to all the songs. It finished at 1030 pm and our hotel was a 20minutes walk away. We jumped onto a pedicab and had a magical ride home through times square.
It was a fabulous way to spend an evening in NY and I am very lucky to have got to see 2 broadway shows while I have been here.
