Monday was marked as shopping day at Woodbury Common, about an hour's bus ride outside of Manhattan. Shops opened at 9am so we left the hotel at 7.15am, grabbed a coffee and croissant and headed for the Port Authority Bus Station - with my trolley bag rolling along beside me and Steve, Chelle and Oli walking ahead trying to disown me.
It took us about 40 minutes to find the place to buy the tickets to Woodbury after asking numerous strangers and even the army/soldiers stationed around the place. Luckily, the last person we asked, a toilet assistant pointed us in the right direction. We then queued with all the other shopaholics for the bus to Woodbury.
It was a lovely drive (well once we were out of the Lincoln tunnel) to Woodbury which is set in a raised area surrounded by hills covered in beautiful green forest.
Off the bus, got our maps and down to plannng what where we had to go. It was hot but not too crowded unless you were in Ralph Lauren!!! A brief stop for lunch and off we went again. I filled my suitcase with shoes for Oli and I, some jeans for Brian and a couple of coach handbags for me. Chelle and Steve were also loaded up with great bargains and a large portion of the Gap store for Janie. We had a great day and queued for the bus ride home about 3.45pm, eventually getting onto the bus at about 4.30pm. The trip took over 2 hours to get home and by then we were all well and truly over it but starving. So off we went to our favourite Italian restaurant on W 45th street for pasta and a cold glass of wine for the adults - fantastic.
We literally fell into bed, satisfied with our days purchases but mourning our poor feet - will they ever be the same again!!
