SOUTH AFRICA
Cape Town is a wonderful city to visit, live, or work. It has beautiful coastlines and beaches. awesome food, and amazing weather. Those 3 things are pretty much what I've been visiting, doing, and enjoying.
Since I've been here, I've gone to Camp's Bay which is on the mid-South point of Table Mountain (the most famous South Africa mountain which is in the heart of Cape Town) where I've been swimming and tanning. The weather yesterday was 40 degrees and the day before that was 37, so you can just imagine how great it is to take a dip in the Atlantic. The pictures I posted up were taken from Camp's Bay which also has great restaurants closeby. It's just one relaxing and wonderful part of this city.
As well, food here is cheap, tastes great, and is more diverse then what I originally thought it to be. There's actually a korean restaurant closeby as well a Chinese and Mexican place. If you visit Cape Town, you'll also notice that beer/cocktails are quite cheap as well. At a number of restaurants I've been to, local beer, Castle and Amstel, are almost the same price as a can of Coke. Coke here is somewhere between 8-9 Rand while beer is usually aorund 9-10 Rand. The conversion is about 5 Rand=1 CDN. So the diff between Coke and beer is about 20 cents if that.
I also had an orientation at my place for volunteering and also met the rest of my team. It seems great, specifically the kids and the program seem to really appeal to me. Ian, one of my volunteering teamates, and I are really looking forward to getting involved as quickly as possible.
I hope everyone back home is enjoying their time.
Cheers.
