SOUTH AFRICA
So, I\'ve been in Africa for 3 days, and it\'s been really fun since. The thing you instantly notice about South Africa is how beautiful the land really is. You\'re surrounded by mountains and there\'s lots of nature still in existence unlike in Toronto where it\'s filled with skyscrapers.
After I landed, I was picked up by my cuz Sol. We drove around looking for a place to eat, but the power was out in Cape Town until about 3 in the afternoon. On the roads, you quickly notice a couple things. First, you see the run-down shacks where the black people live, it\'s quite poor and depressing. Imagine driving along a paved highway just like Toronto, but then you see shacks where people live on the side of the highway, it\'s a real eye-opener. Second, you see people waiting on the road and highways, they\'re waiting to be picked up by mini-buses. These are privately owned mini-vans, that are stuffed to have about 20 people when there should be 12. But they\'re cheap and come frequently, and they give you a local experience.
When the power returned, we found a place in the mall to eat at that time, the one thing about South Africa is that it\'s quite a relaxed environment, that includes restaurant service. It took Sol and I about 30 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them, that\'s after we asked 3 times as well. It wasn\'t like it was busy though, there was about 8 customers spread between 2 servers. One of the many great things in South Africa is seafood. There\'s no shortage of these creatures since SA is geographically located between 2 oceans.
Anyway, I\'ll try to keep my updates frequent and entertaining, hopefully, check on it anytime. Cheerio.
