Hi everyone, hope all is well with everyone back home, i have been very busy and have plenty to tell you.
In the last week of term one, which was from the 26th-30th April (sorry it was so long ago) we had school camp down on the coral coast, about an hour out of suva, which was really fun and all the kids had such a good time. We went to the beach, had lovo, played games, did performances, had a bbq ect. About 40 kids went all with at least one parent, which made it alot easier for teachers. We slept in dorm like rooms which were really good besides the 6:30am rise. Overall everyone had a really good time and it enabled me to bond with the kids that little bit more and also get to know some of the parents.
The first week of school holidays i just stayed in suva, catching up with friends and sleeping which was a nice relaxing week. In the second week went went to taveuni which is a small island in the north of fiji, which took 22hours on an old not so comfortable boat (lucky i can sleep any where!) For the first night we camped on the beach which was beautiful it looked like the image you get when you google fiji with the clear blue water, white sand, coconut trees hanging over and not a person in site. The next day we went to the east of the island to Levana and did an hour and a half forest walk, yet still right on the coast to a big double waterfall, which we then swam in, which was amazing, we then did the hour and a half trek back. That night we stayed in a village near the waterfall, and drank kava with the locals, which was nice after a big day of walking and swimming. The next day we caught the bus back to the beautiful camp site and spent another day there lazing on the beach. On the friday we went down south of the island to see the blow holes, which took us 2 and a half hours, they were amazing to watch and i got to go right down close to them and get soaked by them but probably not worth the 2 and a half hour travel. From the blow holes we went to the natural waterslide, which is a series of small waterfalls that you slide down and have deep natural pools at the end. They were awesome fun and the locals were so good and going down standing up and flipping off the top of the cliff into the pools below. We had such a good time there and the setting was gorgeous. On the Sunday we then made our venture back arriving in suva monday morning just in time to get to work that day.
The first week back at school was really good, it was great to see all the kids again, missed them over the holidays. We also have an occupational therapist from perth working at school for the next 12months so i am very much looking forward to working with her and watching what she does as a bit of work experience.
At the moment Dad, Christine and the girls are over visiting so i am living in luxury at the Shangri-La this weekend, my new fijian portions have prepared me well for the buffet, although one of the most exciting things was a cheese and cracker which i have not had since i have been here. It has been awesome to see them after so long and I am very much looking forward to showing them around my new home next week
Besides that life is suva is pretty much as normal now, every weekend is busy as we now only have 13 weeks left and so many people to catch up with and other places to see, its going to go so fast and neither jemma or i want to come home!!!
Lots of love Felicia xxxxx
