I didn't go to Mt Fuji yesterday as after I wrote my blog I checked the prices. It was about £200 on the shinkensan one way. So I decided that I'll just go to Fuji when I am down that way, so instead I went into central Tokyo. Got the train it's only a couple of stops away. I then got lost inside as it is a massive complex, with about 5 floors, lots of trains and subways and whole shopping floors as well. Add to this the fact that there are about 10 different exits from the building and what you have here is a recipe for navigation disaster!

I eventually burst my way out of the station, and was planning on hitting up the imperial palace gardens. En route I came across a tourist information centre and went in for some maps. It was a good job I did because I found out that the palace was closed on Monday and that this week is also a national holiday which affects opening hours. I then asked about somewhere good to eat and the girl recommended a sushi bar in Tokyo station. Ohhh goodie back in there again. Took me a while to find but it was delicious. it was a stand in sushi bar where you pick what you want off a list and the chef makes it for you and then sets it on a leaf in front of you. You stand up and eat, the bar area was able to hold about 12 people. Super fresh and super nice. Reasonably priced too, cost me £10 for 8 pieces and a beer a good lunch!

Went to Akihabara after which involved more trains and confusion. Akihabara is the electric shop strip where there are neon lights, cosplay characters and absolutely everything that requires a plug! It's complete madness. Thousands of people everywhere. With all buildings having 6 or more floors. After this it was back to Tokyo station before my train back home to kinschico. All in all it was quite the tiring day as everywhere was so busy and I genuinely didn't know what I was doing. A good onsen was in order.

Went out for dinner just down the street with Dutch Steve. As soon as we walked in we were directed upstairs, keep the foreigners out of the window eh. I have no idea what I got. Had to pick via a picture as no English was spoken. They have a button by your table that you press when you want to be served. Got propositioned on the walk back home 'you want anything?' being the English phrase of choice for this lady of the night.

Back at the hostel the Americans had come back and one beer lead to another and before I knew it it was 4am. 2 Americans, 1 Dutch, 1 New Zealander and me. Drinking beers and playing with samurai swords. Needless to say I'm not feeling particularly fresh today. Nothing too adventurous planned!
