Watch out for the floods (especially on the bike) - according to our news, serious flooding in Quang Nam province and in the Mekong Delta area (near Ho Chi Min City)

Very jealous you are in Vietnam, the best cuisine in the world, and the most adorable people. Mum was telling me about your stay with. Local Vietnamese family, look forward to reading about that, must admit I am about 2 weeks behind on your blogs, opps! So, heating is on(absolutely freezing here which is playing havoc with my wee legs :-() , cup of tea and some crisps and I am settling down for a blogathon. Will send a FT this week, big blister x

I think Pete arrived in Hanoi yesterday and is planning on spending a couple of weeks in Vietnam if you are hanging around there for a while? His phone isn't working but you should be able to get him by email or facebook

Martin I trust you are well and enjoying yourself? Caught many of your updates and you certainly seem to be getting out and about. I've to my mate in Malaysia and below is his response to my request to meet up if your travels take you there! 'Grahame he is welcome to come and stay for a while and get his washing etc. sorted out. I will also show him the sights locally which are well worth seeing. We live in Ipoh which is 200km North of Kuala Lumpur which is the main airport for international arrivals. Buses & Trains to Ipoh are cheap and frequent and I could pick him up from the terminal. If he is coming in from the North (Thailand) again no problem loads os buses and trains that stop in Ipoh....so just let me know. Only thing to bear in mind is that we are in the UK 08/12-26/12 to catch up with you all. Over to you and look forward to meeting your brother.....Is he a Liverpool fan?' Let me know your thoughts and if you're heading in that direction, it's a beautiful country and well worth a look, just let me know. Good luck big nose.

Hi Martin, I am suffering from insomnia again :-/ so thought I would catch up on your blog & send a wee message.
I remember the temples in Japan, when you've seen one .....
Just wondering if you have spotted any maiko's? There is a particular district in Kyoto where they live, and early evening they leave for the traditional tea houses to entertain. Their costumes and makeup is absolutely incredible, a rare bird indeed!
you will be hitting a month away from home soon, when it starts to dawn on you that it's not a normal holiday, 11mths+ to go. Glad to hear you meeting some people and enjoying yourself.
Are there additional photographs not on this blog, uploaded to that online site that paddy has access to, I would be interested to see more of Japan?
take care and will FaceTime SomeTime x

Well one is on a budget, can't go frivolously spending!

Your photographs are fantastic, particularly the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which looks amazing and pristine against the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky. White buildings always look must better on sunny days, shame Waterloo Park is in Belfast! We have had a very sunny week but certainly not experiencing the temperatures you are dealing with I am sure it is a real shock to your system. Just as well you got the deodorant.
Can't believe you have been to one of the most expensive shopping centres in one of the most expensive countries in the world and you buy deodorant! You heed some shopping tutoring from the pro. Although if you had bought anything else we would probably be seeing you quite a few months earlier! And we don't want that.
Keep up the good work on the blog I feel like I have a pen pal. X

Hi Martin, glad to hear you arrived safely, and dealt very nicely with your first hurdle. I look forward to checking into your bog for updates and photographs. FYI I think mummy may stop crying by Christmas!
